Tanísha L. Baker, M.A.

Tanísha L. Baker serves as Senior Director of Alumni Engagement at Delaware State University, where she oversees the Office of Alumni Engagement and supports Delaware State University alumni through philanthropy, volunteering, and mentorship to advance the University’s mission. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, military service, and mental health advocacy, she brings a unique blend of strategic planning, governance, and trauma-informed care expertise.

Tanísha earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Delaware State University and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. She joined the Black Mothers in Power Board in 2026 and is a part of the Governance Committee.

Once a teen mom, Tanísha understands the importance of black birthing people receiving informed care, creating systems that work for black birthing people, and access to affordable care from a trusted provider. She is committed to building systems that effectively and adequately serve black families.

Tanísha, a Maryland native, now resides in New Castle County with her child and fur baby. In her free time she enjoys serving and volunteering in her community through service projects with a number of Delaware organizations. Tanísha’s passions include spending time with her family and friends, advocating for and mentoring young Black women and the Black community, reading, and traveling around the world to experience new cultures.
