VOLUNTEER POLICIES


Black Mothers in Power values the commitment and dedication of our volunteers who work tirelessly to support Black mothers and families in Delaware. To ensure a positive and productive experience for everyone, we’ve outlined clear policies that guide our volunteer work.

These policies cover expectations, responsibilities, and guidelines to help us maintain a safe, respectful, and impactful environment for all.

VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT

VOLUNTEER TRAINING PROGRAM


At BMIP, we ensure our volunteers are equipped to provide the best support to our community. Our Volunteer Training Program is designed to:

  • Educate volunteers on the history and challenges Black mothers face, and the work being done to address them.

  • Teach Practical Skills: Learn how to engage with community members effectively, provide resources, and assist with various BMIP initiatives.

  • Foster Cultural Competence: Understand the cultural nuances and needs of Black families to provide the most respectful, effective care.

  • Prepare for Leadership: Develop skills that can be applied to leadership roles within the organization and beyond.

Training Details:

  • Format: Hybrid and in-person sessions available.

  • Frequency: Bi-Monthly sessions with flexible attendance.

  • Content: Each session will cover BMIP's core values, program specifics, community outreach techniques, and more.

All new volunteers are required to complete our training program before beginning any direct volunteer work. This ensures that every volunteer is prepared, confident, and aligned with our mission to serve Black mothers and families in Delaware with dignity and respect.
