Black Mothers in Power to Celebrate National Birth Center Week with Open House at Future Maternal Care Center
Wilmington, DE - [August 22, 2025] - In honor of National Birth Center Week (September 14-20, 2025), Black Mothers in Power (BMIP) invites community leaders, policymakers, philanthropic partners, and supporters to an exclusive preview and fundraising event on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The event will take place at the site of our future Maternal Care Center, the historic former Fire House at 2501 N. Market Street, Wilmington.
Guests will enjoy guided tours of the building as it is transformed into a welcoming, culturally centered space for maternal health services. Attendees will also learn how the new center will serve as a hub for care, education, and advocacy, supporting Black mothers and families in Delaware.
“This center will be more than a building; it will be a promise kept to our community,” said Jennifer Silvera, President, Black Mothers in Power. “We are creating a place where Black mothers are heard, respected, and provided with the quality care they deserve.”
The September 18th gathering celebrates progress and invites community members to take action. Attendees will have the opportunity to:
Tour the future Maternal Care Center and learn about its planned programs and services
Connect with BMIP leadership, board members, and partners
Learn how to support the capital campaign and ongoing programming

Guided tours will run every 15 minutes throughout the day. Capacity is limited, so advance RSVP is strongly encouraged to secure a tour time.
