Black Mothers in Power Stands in Solidarity with Palestine, Demands Ceasefire and End to Suffering

Published: November 16, 2023

Black Mothers in Power, a nonprofit advocating for the rights of Black mothers and families, is joining forces with Palestinian civil society, progressive organizations, including progressive Jewish organizations, and humanity at large to demand a #CeasefireNOW. The coalition aims to put an end to the ongoing violence and human rights violations in Palestine.

In light of recent events, Black Mothers in Power strongly condemns Israel's war crimes, including cutting off essential utilities such as electricity and water to Gaza. Recent bombings, equivalent to a nuclear weapon, have resulted in dire consequences for the Palestinian people, particularly pregnant individuals, including Afro-Palestinians, residing in Gaza. These innocent civilians have been denied access to crucial labor care, forced to undergo C-sections without anesthesia, and left with no choice but to consume dirty or brackish water, endangering both their own lives and the lives of their babies.

Moreover, the lack of basic menstrual supplies and uncontaminated baby formula further exacerbates the health risks faced by mothers and their infants in Gaza. Black Mothers in Power emphasizes that no act of violence can justify retaliation against a civilian population, especially one as vast as Gaza's with over 2 million inhabitants. To safeguard the well-being of mothers, babies, and humanity in general, Black Mothers in Power demands that the U.S. government utilize its influence over Israel to advocate for an immediate ceasefire and put an end to the suffering.

To amplify the effect of this demand, Black Mothers in Power, alongside the Delaware Coalition to Ceasefire, invites individuals from all walks of life to join them at the Ceasefire March to Biden's House on November 11th. By participating in this event, members of the community can show their support for Palestine and join in the call for an end to the violence.

Black Mothers in Power calls upon individuals, organizations, and communities from across the nation to unite in the fight for justice, peace, and the freedom of Palestine. Let us stand together in solidarity and demand a #CeasefireNOW.
