Position Title: Postpartum Justice Program Manager
Reports To: Executive Director, Black Mothers In Power
Employment Type: Contractor, Part-time
Compensation: $20,000 (12-month contract)
Location: Hybrid – Wilmington, Delaware
Position Summary
Black Mothers In Power (BMIP) is seeking a passionate, organized, and equity-driven Program Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Postpartum Justice Program (PJP). This position plays a vital role in supporting Black families during the fourth trimester, through a healing-centered, culturally relevant lens. The Program Manager will coordinate postpartum cohorts for birthing people and support groups for both mothers and fathers/partners. This role reports directly to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee 4 postpartum cohort cycles for birthing people and 10 postpartum support groups, including support groups designed specifically for Black men and fathers
Recruit and coordinate doulas, therapists, facilitators, and guest speakers
Manage scheduling, location/venue booking, and participant communications
Maintain participant rosters, attendance tracking, and follow-up outreach
Collect and analyze pre/post surveys and feedback data to evaluate impact
Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure quality delivery and strategic alignment
Collaborate with local partners, community leaders, and culturally grounded service providers
Support storytelling, documentation, and celebration of participant journeys
Qualifications
Deep understanding of postpartum experiences in Black communities
At least 2 years of program coordination or project management experience
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Experience working with men and/or fathers in community settings is a plus
Familiarity with Doula support, perinatal mental health, or parent advocacy is
preferred
Comfortable using Google Workspace, Zoom, and digital tracking tools
Doula, therapist, social worker, or lived experience as a postpartum parent is a strong
asset
